Nacho Valdés – From Landscapes And Portraits To Sacred Art
Ignacio (Nacho) Valdés. A painting professor at the Sacred Art School Firenze in Florence, Italy. He went from landscapes and portraits to sacred art. His altarpieces can be found around the world. Just like his students – scattered around the globe, they carry his passion for sacred art and his academic painting technique to all continents.
Nacho Valdés, born in Cádiz, Spain, studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Santa Isabel of Hungary in Seville and graduated with the diploma in Painting. During the early years of his career he focused on landscape and portraiture, and in 2004 he changed his professional artistic field to sacred art.
As Nacho Valdés was saying in one of the recent interviews, he “does not like to separate painting and sacred art”, but he considers it a necessity and, above all, a necessity to help people get closer to God.
This is why he, as a painting professor at the Sacred Art School Firenze, goes far beyond just the academic painting technique but rather transmits to his students the desire of spreading the good news about the only true God.
“The tragedy of many Christians is that, deep in their souls, they think that God has created us and left us on earth without caring about how we live and what we do. It is the worst distortion of the image of who God is. Because he, his Mother, Saint Joseph, the angels and the saints are always at our side! That’s why I try to make images, paintings, that are close to us, that we can relate to, that we can pray to,” – Nacho Valdés in an interview for Religion en Libertad.
Nacho Valés’ art studio is in Seville where he works with his two sisters who are also visual artists/painters, and he also teaches painting at the Sacred Art School in Florence, Italy.
