Uffizi. Florence – New arrangement of the 13th-century room

Share the Beauty of Art

The 13th-century room at the beginning of the First Corridor of the Uffizi Gallery has been completely renovated!

The room has been structured (in consonance with the layout desired in the 1950s in the nearby Hall of Majesties by architects Michelucci, Scarpa and Gardella) to recall an ecclesiastical space; architectural elements placed in memory of tradition include a pietra serena step under the monumental crosses.

The room houses an extraordinary collection of panel paintings made between the 12th and the end of the 13th century, offering a selected overview of Tuscan, especially Florentine, painting before Cimabue and Giotto.
