Silvia Gasparrini – Radiant With Light Of Love Sacred Art Of Icon Painting
Silvia Gasparrini’s deep love for the iconography shines with an extraordinary light in the images that she creates. Sacred art for her is more than just an image on a religious subject, it goes beyond the tradition and is impossible without the purity of soul, the enlightenment of thoughts and the prayer of dedication.
Silvia Gasparrini, a contemporary icon painting artist from Siena, Italy, translates the glory of God into a language of traditional symbols and sacral images. Her over 20 years of painting experience in painting icons, intertwining tradition and modernity, imbues her work with extraordinary depth.
To learn, understand and most importantly to feel the tradition of icon painting, Silvia has traveled the world to collect the diverse pieces of iconographic culture. She has an amazingly vast wealth of impressions and knowledge, collected bit by bit from studying the originals of the most famous icons of the Orthodox world, including the icons of Andrey Rublev in Russia.
Silvia feels a deep connection with the painting tradition of the Sienese School of the 14th century, and in some of her works you can feel the beautiful fusion of the Western tradition and the Byzantine art.
Currently, Silvia Gasparrini is also a professor of Icon painting at the Sacred Art School in Florence, Italy.
