Filippo Rossi – The Magnificent Abstract Sacred Art

Share the Beauty of Art

Filippo Rossi: “The responsibility of an artist as a Christian lies entirely in speaking to his or her contemporaries, including atheists, without imposing anything, only suggesting, opening passages, making the mystery sparkle.”

Filippo Rossi, a contemporary visual artist from Florence, Italy, creates strong on color abstract paintings with inclusions of gold and stones. In his paintings there is always a victory, always a triumph, even if the subject, which has to be discovered by the viewer, is mother’s love or a gentle touch of God’s grace.

In one of his interviews, when answering a question about the figurative art, which is where he started as a young artist, Filippo Rossi confesses that there is a dead end for him in the figurative art:

“With the figurative you can’t go anywhere anymore. Even in sacred art. Talking about the Incarnation today requires much more than a naive biblical representation. That’s why you can only make it understood by capturing the viewer’s attention, the viewer who is always on the run. You can not talk to someone like it was yesterday, when people topped and listened. You have to reach them, force them to stop. You can only do it by using the same language as they speak.”

Filippo Rossi studied at the Life Drawing School of the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, graduated from the University of Florence with a degree in Art History. Then he was teaching Painting at Stanford University in the USA. He is working in the field of art with Christian subjects for over 20 years now.In 2018 he created his own brand MAGNIFICE
