OPEN CALLS

Residency 11:11 – Open Call For Artists

Share the Beauty of Art

A 3-month artist development research residency. Deadline to apply 7 April 2024

Residency Theme:

The Residency 11:11 is interested in research proposals that explore the intersections between art and technology, access in digital & non-digital spaces, and what roles ‘the digital’ can take in social justice movements and action eg. human rights, climate justice, racial justice, reparatory justice, disability justice, gender justice, LGBTQ+ rights, workers rights, housing justice, food justice, health and healthcare justice.

Residency 11:11 is offering a 3-month artist development residency, delivered virtually, to an art practitioner with an affinity to the digital. We are interested in alternative uses of the online and projects that raise questions around how we can use digital tools and spaces in new and creative ways, to try to make our physical world a more equitable and just place.

Key Dates:

Residency Dates: 1 June – 31 August 2024 (duration 3 months)

Deadline to apply 7 April (11:59 pm BST)

Who can apply

All art practitioners, both national or international. You can be based anywhere (including in London).

Residency 11:11 is a queer women run organisation and prioritises giving opportunities to artists who identify as women, as queer, as non-binary and trans.

As an artist-run organisation who work collaboratively in their own artistic work, Residency 11:11 is aware of the difficulties in applying to opportunities as a collective and are always trying to find better ways to make more opportunities available to this way of working. There are 3 residency places available for this opportunity. If you are interested in applying as a collective, please get in touch with us directly before applying to discuss your group situation with us and to what options we can offer before starting work on a proposal.

You are welcome to apply if you are currently studying or part of a development programme. If you are, please explain how this residency will benefit you in a unique way compared to your current learning opportunities.
