Saint Dionysius of Corinth – 8 April – Saint Of The Day
St Dionysius of Corinth. The bishop of Corinth (modern Greece). Outstanding writer. One of the most Orthodox writers in the Catholic Church.
In ca. 170 AD, Dionysius was the Bishop of Corinth, a city-state in south-central Greece. An outstanding writer, St Dionysius is known for his intensive correspondence with Pope Soter. Unfortunately, no written works survived and today his writings are known only by fragments, mentions and quotations.
He is viewed as one of the most Orthodox writers in the Catholic Church.
It is believed that St Dionysius has suffered much for the faith, although he seems to have died in peace.
The Greek Orthodox Church honors St Dionysius as a martyr on November 29, the Roman Catholic Church has the feast day of St Dionysius on April 8.
